What is the immune system?
Immunity is, at its most basic level, the mechanism that protects us from infections, viruses, and all other external and internal risks to our health.
Our bodies maintain immunity by producing various types of cells that act together to react and destroy cells that pose a threat to us.
For this to work properly our immune system must be able to distinguish between bad and good cells.
Some of the cells make up the immune system’s initial response which is called an innate response, this is usually activated quickly after foreign or harmful cells have been detected.
If this response fails, a secondary adaptive immune response is triggered.
This response is powered by T and B cells.

How does it work?
Once the body detects the presence of a foreign agent (ex. a virus) B cells are activated to produce antibodies that will attach themselves to infected cells, they then act as a marker so that the T cells can find and destroy the cells that have been targeted.
The antibodies normally remain in our system and offer future immunity if the same infection returns.
What is the effect of CBD on the immune system?
Although CBD’s anti-inflammatory effect has been observed (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/25356537/), we are still not entirely sure of all the possible effects CBD has on the immune system.

It appears that it may help order and correct our immune system but much more research will be needed before we can draw meaningful conclusions.
